Driver Gets Tasered For Being Slow

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Lack of Patience or was the taser warranted?

I understand if the cop feels in danger he should use his taser if the only other option is deadly force, but a taser shouldn’t be used in place of patience and communication. Everywhere I turn its another taser video…some people need to be tasered, others need to learn to cooperate and the cops need to learn restraint. Although I think the taser gun is very useful, its use is overdone, especially when it can kill some people. Whatever happened to beating the crap out of someone with a nightstick? I miss that.

Map Of Proposed High Speed Trains

Map Of Proposed Train Routes

Here is a interactive map of proposed high speed train routes.

Building high-speed train routes in the U.S. would not be easy or cheap. Almost every proposed route faces some sort of political fight, and, depending on who you ask and what technology you’re considering, the cost per mile of high-speed rail is anywhere from $5 million to $100 million. However, more and more transportation engineers and city planners are starting to see high-speed rail as the only rational way to ease the strain that booming populations are placing on their already overwhelmed infrastructure

Why Pot Is Illegal

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Here is an interesting article about an old hemp-made gown that is still perfect 150 years later and why pot and hemp is illegal.  It makes sense, why would the government allow a material that would last for years when they make more money on repeat sales of badly tailored clothes and materials.

I was awe-struck. I have always known, intectually, that hemp was suppossed to make great clothing & it has a million & one other uses as well. But, it wasn’t until I put my hands on these nearly 200 YEAR OLD pieces of fabric that I realized why industry would want to fight this plant. It lasts, if not forever, then for a couple of life-times or more. How on earth would they be able to generate profit, if we weren’t wearing holes in our Chinese factory made clothing every two weeks? And, of course, this is a plant that anyone could grow, it is a WEED. If it was used as fuel source (as I was told it would be a excellent use for…), how would they ever profiteer once the average person figured out how to make hemp oil, or each local community had a grower who would supply the fuel. Where would the oil billionaires be?

$5,000 for Every U.S. Baby

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Hiliary Clinton

Last Week Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 in the form of a “baby bond”. This bond would help pay for college education or buying a new home when the child reaches 18.

There are roughly 4.1 million babies born in the U.S. each year, and that number is getting larger exponentially. If citizens gave (tax) $5,000 to every child born it would be over $20.5 B-B-Billion! That’s about $70 per US Citizen per year! I can think of alot of things this country can do with $20.5 Billion Dollars, like not take it from us.

Actually, parents should be taxed for having babies. Believe me I’m glad it is not like this, but…The people who chose not to have a baby ends up paying for that child’s education and well-being. The fine folks who thinks it’s fine to squirt out babies every year even though they can’t take care of them just to receive a check in the mail from the government should be fined. It is the parents decision to bring a child in the world, and as bad as it sounds it is their responsibility…Not their neighbors.

I believe we should help our children in this world, but this isn’t the answer. WE can’t continue giving frivolous handouts to everyone. Going back to the saying you can give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day…Teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime. We should be teaching our kids to be self-sufficient, that you’ve got to take care of yourself and that life isn’t always easy.

If anybody deserved an extra $5,000 it would be the older generation, not the babies. The men that fought in WW2 and Vietnam. The women that sacrificed to defeat tyranny. The hippies that protested a faulted government. The ones that we call parents, grandparents, great-grandparents. The are the ones that I would have no problem giving $70 a year to, because they deserve it.

Hiliary-if you ever want to get elected… rethink this idea… please. Maybe one day, but not now.
