Just in time for the holidays…Saddam’s 269-foot mega-yacht is for sale.  The 14-cabin yacht can accommodate 28 passengers and 35 crew members.  The yacht comes complete with gold-tap faucets, a surgical suite and of course, prayer rooms.  The asking price is only $34 million.  A small price for this floating palace of history.

The Chinese are enacting a 3-month ban on all Hollywood (U.S.) produced movies in effort to promoted their own movie industry. The ban, scheduled to end in February might be extended till May ‘08.

Until America wakes up and stops doing Trillions of dollars of business with a communist country things like this will happen more frequently. With crappy cheap merchandise, lead toys and a constant battle over citizens rights, I still wonder why we do some much business with them. How can they be so bad when they make such delicious food? Venezuelans have rejected President Hugo Chavez’s bid to win new powers and run for re-election for decades to come in an unprecedented defeat that could slow his socialist revolution in the OPEC nation.

In a fiercely contested referendum on Sunday, voters said “No” to reforms that would have scrapped term limits on Chavez’s rule, given him control over foreign currency reserves and boosted his powers to expropriate private property.

Chavez conceded defeat shortly after election officials said early on Monday that the “No” camp had about 51 percent of the vote and that the president scored only around 49 percent support.

Although he remains powerful and popular, it was the biggest vote blow to the anti-U.S. leader since he swept to power in a 1998 election.

Students, rights and business groups, opposition parties, the Roman Catholic Church, former political allies and even his usually loyal ex-wife all lined up against Chavez ahead of the referendum vote on Sunday.

They accused him of pushing the constitutional reforms to set up a dictatorship.

A group of artists turned 750 sq. foot of unused space in a Providence, Rhode Island mall into a luxury apartment.  The apartment lasted for about four years in secret until recently discovered by security officials at the mall.  The apartment lacked a bathroom, but was equipped with a kitchen, living room and a bedroom.

Even the Boy Scouts isn’t American anymore.

“More than 1 million Chinese-made plastic badges, found to contain unsafe amounts of lead, are being recalled by The Boy Scouts of America.
