Ron Paul: A Republican Takes the Lead Against the War

Article From RollingStone.com

Ron Paul may be an old-school Republican, but no other candidate running for president — in either party — has spoken out against the war in Iraq as bluntly as he has. Sure, the former obstetrician has a goofy nostalgia for the gold standard, not to mention medieval views on abortion and immigration. But his anti-war stance has not only helped him bank more campaign cash than Iraq-backer John McCain, it has garnered him more contributions from military families than any candidate in the race. On November 5th, Paul raised $4.2 million online — a record single-day haul for a GOP presidential candidate. Rolling Stone caught up with the seventy-two-year-old Texan in between votes at his day job in the House of Representatives.

This 360-degree ultra-high-definition military simulator allows you to drive a Humvee and fire real weapons with absolute precision, including machine guns and rocket launchers, anywhere you want. The 10-projector system achieves a perfectly seamless panorama thanks to Mersive’s Sol system; a calibration, warping and sub-pixel image blending technology that may jump from military sims to your living room in the near future. Sol can get any number of projectors and project a single huge image over a surface of any shape and size.

Cost Of War

2. The human toll of the war is dreadful: more than 3,800 U.S. soldiers dead and more than 28,000 wounded, plus more than 1,000 private contractors killed and many more injured. It’s harder to know how many Iraqis have died; some estimates claim that the war has caused a million or more Iraqi deaths, and even if that’s an overstatement, the toll is still very high. But it’s not just the lives that are gone; we’ve also lost the contributions that these people would have made to their families and to humanity at large.

80,000 Cans Of Silly String Sent To Troops In Iraq

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

80,000 cans of Silly String has been collected and sent to troops in Iraq.
The cans of Silly String are boxed and addressed to individual soldiers in Iraq and will be delivered by the United States Postal Service once inspected. The troops were using it to detect tripwires on bombs. They can shoot the substance, which travels about 10-12 feet, across a room before entering. If it hangs in the air, that indicates a possible tripwire and it’s great at parties. The great military campaign of Silly Stringed Soldiers was thought up by Marcelle Shriver, who’s son is on active duty in Iraq.

I think the next “Let’s send something to Iraq” campaign should be a plan to get out. Or 30,000 pounds of bananas…

Sweet F’N Killbots

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

The Army has a new soldier. It’s name is Talon. Think Terminator, Robocop and Rambo meets Johnny 5 from Short Circuit together to create the future of warfare. I would say its biggest disadvantage would be that it needs an operator to drive and engage an enemy. I think the army should hook it up to the internet and let some of these gamers operate it. Man, they are good. We got the best sit-on-the-assers in the world. Call a draft for robot warfare. I’m in. Would you like to play a game? How about Thermal-nuclear war? Screw that toss me a joystick, I’m playing battle bots.
